For many people, “work” is a place they go to every day in order to support themselves and their families. If you are not one of the lucky ones that get to make a living doing something you love, then you need a hobby! A hobby can be a wonderful creative outlet for those who work a mundane job, and can also help to reduce stress.
Consider these 3 hobbies which can be an incredibly satisfying creative outlet, and are not difficult to get started with.
(BONUS: If you get good at these creative hobbies, you can also make great money as well!)
If you have a smartphone, you are probably already a photographer to some degree. Photography is one of the easiest hobbies to break into, and you don’t need much more than just a camera to get started. Photography has a way of making you view the world in a whole new way, sparking your overall creativity. There are advanced photography courses available online to anyone who is serious about learning more about this incredibly satisfying and fulfilling hobby.
From the time we are in grade school we have been taught to fear writing. There are so many rules to break, and so many exceptions to those rules, and then there’s the formatting, but different papers get formatted differently, and on and on and on…
It doesn’t have to be that way!
Journaling and writing are an excellent way to get the creative juices flowing and there are very little “rules” if you are just writing for yourself! Whether you are keeping a personal journal, blogging, or creating new stories of your own, writing is an excellent way to make our brains work creatively and have something to show for it when we are finished. Nobody is going to go over it with a red pen, and nobody even has to see it if you don’t want them to!
As a bonus, writing is a fabulous way to safely and productively process the everyday stress and anxiety we encounter in our day-to-day lives.
This is one creative hobby that those around you will thank you for picking up! Cooking and baking is an excellent creative outlet because it affects all the senses; taste, smell, and touch are obvious, but also consider the visual creativity of plating your dish and the sound of something sizzling on the stove!
Taking up cooking and baking as a creative hobby also has an additional benefit- slashing your food bill! Cooking your own food is an excellent way to save money, be healthy, and feel fulfilled creatively.
So Go Be Creative!
Remember that we can never totally eliminate stress from our lives. An appropriate amount of stress can actually be a good thing, because it serves to keep us on top of our responsibilities. The important thing is to have a creative outlet, in order to manage our stress. Starting a new creative hobby is a great way to accomplish this!
